Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is a sovereign city-state and island country in Southeast Asia.

Singapore is one of the world’s major commercial hubs, with the 4th biggest financial centre and one of the five busiest ports. Along with Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan, Singapore is identified as one of the original Four Asian Tigers. The Singaporean economy is known as one of the freest, most innovative, most competitive, and most business-friendly.

Singapore, as a country, in general is socially conservative, but some liberalisation has occurred. Racial and religious harmony is regarded by the government as a crucial part of Singapore’s success, and has played a part in building a Singaporean identity. The nominal GDP of the country is $311.282 billion (2017).
