Taiwan, officially known as the Republic of China, is a country in East Asia. Taiwan has a population of 23.34 million. Mandarin is the official language of Taiwan. Taiwanese traditional values are based on Confucian ethics that infuses a strong sense of collectivism within the society. Though Taiwan is heavily influenced by the Chinese culture considering its geographic proximity, the two territories are vastly different. Taiwanese have a strong sense of national identity and view themselves as a separate entity from China. This East Asian country has achieved tremendous success in terms of freedom of labor, business, and low level of corruption. Taiwan’s GDP is $566.757 billion (2017).
